Supporting British Skiing – the Copper Horse GBR Series
In April we announced our sponsorship of the GBR Series, the premier level of ski racing in the UK in both indoor and outdoor dry slope skiing. As a company we support excellence in all its forms and are passionate about developing the future.
At the start of May, we headed to Manchester for the first races of the indoor series. We weren’t disappointed, the level of skill on show was brilliant – anyone who has skied on indoor snow knows it is very difficult to ski on, let alone race on!
We also had a surprise visit from Britain’s number 1 slalom skier, world number 7 and Olympian, Dave Ryding! His support for the skiing community has been fantastic. He stopped for photos and autographs with all the skiers and everyone was delighted to see him.

A lot of preparation goes into these weekends, with volunteers providing technical and race support from very early in the morning until late in the evening. A day in a fridge can be particularly hard!

While there was racing on the slope, there was a lot of racing going on off the slope too! We had brought our car hacking simulator along with us and showed the racers (and a lot of parents!) what the future looks like. This included dodgy headunits, what connected cars can do and future technology, as well as how to secure that and roadside infrastructure, including IoT in construction and Connected and Autonomous Plant (CAP).

The two days of racing closed out with many worthy winners, both young and old, all of whom can be found on the GBR Series Facebook page.

This weekend we’ll head to the first races of the outdoor series, hosted in Llandudno in Wales. We’re looking forward to some fantastic racing and we’re also going to take the opportunity to show more of what we do at Copper Horse and encourage some of the young people to think of engineering and cyber security as a potential career. We’ll be talking about some of our current projects, including deciphering historical documents using AI – so we’ll have some historical codes and shorthand ciphers for people to have a go at breaking as well as a range of lock-picking tools in our very own mini lock-picking village!

We’re looking forward to many more exciting weekends. If you’d like to talk to us about any of our work whether it be AI security research, automotive, IoT, mobile or anything else cool and security related, let us know here!
